Willie Nelson is free on $2,500 bond after being charged for possession of six ounces of marijuana found aboard his tour bus Friday morning (Nov. 26) in West Texas. Nelson was traveling from California to his home near Austin when his bus pulled into a routine checkpoint operated by the U.S. Border Patrol in Sierra Blanca, Texas. Nelson, a co-chair of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) advisory board, told authorities the marijuana was his. If convicted of the possession charge, he could be sentenced to 180 days in the Hudspeth County jail. Following the arrest, Mickey Raphael, Nelson's longtime harmonica player, said the Country Music Hall of Fame member was in good spirits.
